Minutes 01.07.16

We began arriving at 6:30. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM.

Attendance for the meeting was 20 members. We welcomed three new members, Brett, John J., and John S. The club roster stands at 24 total.

The first meeting of the New Year was dedicated to sign-ups and memberships. We have new cards with new stamps, and new membership numbers. Every card starts off with 16 for 2016. Next comes a zero. The cards were numbered backwards from 99. They then were shuffled before being filled out and assigned. We will have to wait to see if we issue the radar card 16061.

Next we had a show-and-tell with an impressive range of collectibles from ancients to colonial paper. The fake 90-degree rotated half dollar drew a lot of interest. Elaine’s toned coins also garnered some special attention. Harry brought a book about Roman coins, published in 1734. Brett offered a French coin that showed both Napoleon I as emperor, and was dated according to the Year of the Republic calendar. (Do republics have emperors?)

We discussed the upcoming ANA convention in Dallas and outlined our plans for a club table.

We noted with sadness the passing of two members, Earl Hunt and Gwen Ericson.

In the drawings, Joe R. won his first Three-Legged Buffalo; Brian M took the door prize.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 and we socialized until 8:30.
