Minutes 03.05.15

The meeting was called to order at 7:06 PM by club president Gary F. The minutes were read and approved.

Mitch L. provided us with a video of a visit to the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa. It was humorous and informative.

Show & Tell presentations were offered by Gary F., Hal C., and John D. Gary showed a limited edition 50 State National Parks Mint set for the current year. Hal offered a 1916-D Mercury Dime that we all inspected before he told us that it had been condemned by a third-party grader. John presented a commercial “Western Expansion” set of nickels, not from the US Mint. All three of them were awarded one of our new door prizes, the standard Bausch & Lomb lenses with integral case.

Next, Gary presented materials from the ANA about National Coin Week, including intaglio proofs, pinback buttons, and bookmarkers.

The program this month was a search through rolls of U.S. 5-cent Nickel coins. Gary and Alan had extra bank-wrapped rolls for those who forgot theirs. A couple of the members had heaps of nickels from their change jars. Alan set up his projecting microscope. While everyone seemed to find the process interesting, no rarities surfaced.

After the drawings for the “3-Legged Buffalo” and door prize, the meeting was adjourned.
