Minutes 07.07.16

The club continues to plow new ground. We had one of the best meetings ever. We had double the drawings and were able to award a silver eagle for a completed “Three Legged Buffalo.”

We started with New Business announcements from Bryan J., about changes to our club show, and the selection of a new club show coordinator.

Mike M. announced that he is not seeking re-election as club Secretary. Gary and Alan said that they will continue in their roles as President and Vice President.

Bill G. brought us up to date on the Texas Numismatic Association, including some history of our lifetime membership. We are Club number five in the roster.

Gary and Mike showed websites for collecting. Gary demonstrated how he uses Pintrest to enhance his hobby experience. He can gather and post images from all over the Internet, or his own computer, of course, building “scrapbooks” of themes. We looked at several different type coins (Lincoln cents, etc), as well as information on pricing and grading.

Mike showed the ANA website (with Gary driving). It has many services for non-members and many more for members, including all 117 years of the Numismatist online and text searchable.

The next meeting is Thursday, August 4.

The club show is July 16 at the Wingate in Round Rock. Several people volunteered to work the club table and earn extra tickets for the Very Special Christmas Drawing. We still need some helpers. Come to club show and see what works best for you.
